A nice break from all the rain and power outages we’ve had. I stopped by Downtown Local yesterday for a kombucha and enjoyed outside in the sun and crisp January air. Not a cloud in the sky too.
Kombucha is known as the “Immortal Health Elixir” by the Chinese dating back some 2000 years. Westerners have just caught up to this beverage (probably because probiotics are all the rage now) and you can find it in most stores. If you’ve not tried it, it’s a beverage of fermenting tea and sugar with a culture. It becomes carbonated and contains b-vitamins, enzymes, oodles of probiotics and healthy acids like Glucuronic acid for detoxification. You can add just about anything to it to customize different flavors. Downtown Local makes theirs in house and yesterday on tap was Black Rose. Tangy, fizzy, and a nice balance of sweetness.
