The winter rains provide an excellent opportunity to look for signs of mushrooms. 350 different fungi have been identified at Filoli! Take a hike with a knowledgeable education docent and learn all about this fascinating and mysterious kingdom. The area around Filoli is outstanding for nature education, offering a variety of ecosystems within a compact area including mixed forests, redwood stands, chaparral, riparian, pond and cultivated grasslands. Plus, you’ll spot the early wildflowers emerging!
The Filoli Center is a 654-acre estate with a country house, gardens, orchard, hiking trails and more. It’s a California Historic Landmark that’s open to the public.
After the hike, have a leisurely lunch at the cafe overlooking the gardens.
